Work begins on spy attack ‘hot spots’

-

BY JACK HARDY POLICE have cordoned off nine “hot spots” in Salisbury to rid the area of the toxic after-effects of last month’s nerve agent attack.

A small amount of the Novichok is thought to have been used in liquid form to target Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal, 66, and his daughter Yulia, 33.

The multi-millionpound decontamination operation centres on nine areas where experts think traces could still linger.

But Government officials insist the city is still safe for residents and visitors, and there was no additional risk to the public.

Work is expected to begin next week and will likely prioritise a police station, two ambulance stations and the council building.
