RENNIE: I ONLY CAREABOUTUS

-

BY DAVID KELSO GLASGOW boss Dave Rennie reckons it would be a huge bonus for Scotland if rivals Edinburgh claim a Pro14 play-off place.

But the Kiwi insisted his Warriors won’t be out to do them any favours.

A clear-cut victory for Rennie’s men against Ulster in Belfast tonight would propel the Gunners into the knock-out stages at the expense of the Irish side.

However, Rennie said: “We want to win for us. We are aiming to create momentum ahead of the trip to Murrayfield next week to face Edinburgh in the last league game – and for our home semi-final.

“If Edinburgh can benefit from our result in Belfast, it will only be a by product.”

Rennie has recalled first-choice half-backs Finn Russell and Ali Price for the Ulster showdown.

The pair were dropped to the bench for last weekend’s emphatic win over Connacht at Scotstoun.

But the coach said: “They have reacted positively to being left out.

“They have trained well and I have been happy with what I have seen from them through the week.

“Now I want to see more evidence of that reaction on the pitch against Ulster.”

Rennie has made a host of changes to his side.

Scotland Calcutta Cup hero Huw Jones returns at centre while Lelia Masaga starts on the wing in place of Dan van der Merwe, who has a minor injury.

Alex Dunbar shifts to No.12 to accommodate Jones. Rennie said: “We are happy to have confirmed a home semi-final berth and see the next few weeks as a chance to build momentum.”
