RODGERS IS RIGHT MAN

-

DEREK McINNES reckons Brendan Rodgers would be a “perfect fit” for Arsenal if the Gunners decide the Celtic gaffer is the man to succeed Arsene Wenger.

Speculation linking Rodgers with the Premier League outfit has been circulating for some time when it was thought Wenger might quit at the end of this season after 22 years in charge.

McInnes’s Aberdeen have been unable to take a point from the Hoops this season and lost to them in both the Betfred and Scottish Cup finals last season.

He said: “It would be no surprise if Brendan is mentioned for the Arsenal job. He would be more than capable of taking that club on.

“I’m sure he will be one of the names mentioned and it just illustrates the good work he’s done at Celtic and the clubs before that.

“He’s working for a huge club and has done good work at Liverpool and Swansea in the past. If Arsenal did decide he was the one they wanted them I’m sure Brendan would be a brilliant fit.

“He’s spoken about how happy and settled he is at Celtic and I’m sure whenever he does leave it’ll be a big decision and a huge wrench for him.

“Brendan has been a good fit for Celtic and they’ve been a good fit for him. When Celtic needed taking on to the next stage he was the man to do it. He’s done it in such a controlled manner.

“His record in the last couple of seasons has been almost faultless domestically.”
