Craig: Victory will not only boost Thistle’s

FORMER Partick Thistle star Albert Craig has urged the Jags to win today for John Lambie.

The Maryhill club have renamed the North Stand in honour of the legendary boss ahead of this crucial clash with another of his former clubs, Hamilton.

But Craig believes Partick lifting themselves off the bottom of the Premiershi­p table with victory over their ninthplace­d rivals would be the perfect tribute to Lambie.

Craig, who also turned out for Accies, said: “It’s the biggest game Thistle have had in years.

“I know a lot of Jags fans will turn out to celebrate John’s life but it’s important that they are backing the team.

“John didn’t deal in sentiment and he would know Thistle have to win now more than ever.

“Normally, I want Hamilton to win when they play but because they are almost safe and Thistle are not, I want the Jags to win.

“So I hope Thistle use these last five games as cup finals, starting today to honour John.”
