Third of LGBT workers hide their identity

BY ALAN JONES MORE than a third of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgende­r people have hidden their sexuality at work for fear of discrimina­tion, according to a report.

Stonewall’s survey of more than 3200 LGBT employees found bullying in the workplace continues to be a “serious problem”.

Christophe­r Booth, now 77, who waived his right to anonymity, told the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry he was then sexually abused by priests at the care home he was moved to in Tasmania.

His evidence was heard as the probe in Edinburgh continues to examine children’s homes run by the Sisters of Nazareth in Scotland. The homes are no longer operating.

Christophe­r said he was admitted to Nazareth House in Aberdeen at the age of 10 in 1951. He was there for about seven months before he was sent to Australia as a child migrant.
