Easter Road cutback has Gers fans laying down ground rules

-

YOU Rangers can’t statement beat a good to get old the Hotline phones ringing.

The decision by Hibs to cut the Ibrox side’s ticket allocation for the season-ending clash at Easter Road on May 13 prompted an outcry from the Light Blues support. Andy Adams, Kirkcaldy, said: “Hibs are out of order with the tickets for the final game. They received their full allocation for the two games at Ibrox so why not reciprocate for the two games at Easter Road?

“Does sporting integrity not apply anymore? For the next game at Ibrox I’d half their allocation and charge double.” Ian Walker, Castlemilk, said: “It’s a disgrace Hibs are allowed to cut our allocation. Rangers fans have filled their ground for decades and now they are on an upturn they believe we can be disregarded in this way. There should be rules in place to prevent this from happening and we should ban them from Ibrox next season.” Craig Anderson, Shotts, said: “Rangers need to report Hibs to the SFA. They are moving the goalposts at the last minute and it’s another example of Rangers fans being treated disgracefully. We need action and should boycott Easter Road indefinitely and refuse to give their fans tickets for Ibrox.”

Now an alternate view. John Scott, Grassmoor, said: “Rangers’ statement has to be one of the most ridiculous ever penned from Ibrox. They give Hibs 1000 seats for league games and as for safety concerns? They need to sit with visiting fans in the corner of Ibrox. Half of the south stand was safe enough for Aberdeen so why will Rangers be any different? No wonder Rangers hold themselves up for ridicule.”

Allan McGregor’s possible return was also on the agenda. Peter McIntyre, Glasgow, said: “I’d love to see McGregor back as he’s a better keeper than Wes Foderingham. He’s a Rangers fan and even though he left after refusing to have his contract moved to the newco, he should be welcomed back with open arms.” Drew Ferguson, Oban, said: “As a Rangers fan I totally agree with Stan Petrov that Scottish football needs a strong Rangers or interest will fall from our game and players will not be attracted here and standards will fall even further. There will be some cavemen who sincerely believe the league will flourish without a strong Rangers team.”

Steve Bryce, Ayr, said: “I see the Celtic players were out partying at their Player of the Year night – I’d struggle to nominate any of them this year.

“They have been awful in the league. Standards have been allowed to slip, it’s high time they turned up and gave the supporters something to cheer about. I would love to see Brendan Rodgers ditch the negative one up front approach and really go for it.”

Scott Brown’s belief Rangers

aren’t the second best side in the country has some up in arms. Gordon Hendry,

Ochiltree, said: “Graham Murty must pin Brown’s comments up in the dressing room wall before Sunday’s game and instruct his side to press Celtic in every area of the park. Every Rangers player should run until they drop and ensure the fans have no complaints in terms of fight and effort whether we win, lose or draw. Denis Bruce, Bishopbriggs, said: “Why do players rubbish their opponents? Their words could backfire by motivating the opposition and end up biting them in the butt.” Frank McCormick emailed: “If Olivier Ntcham had been playing in the manner he has this past couple of months he’d have won the Player’s Player of the Year award.”
