THE SNP were elected on a clear manifesto that included provision to encourage Gaelic, support our nation’s historical infrastructure, support Scotland’s artistic endeavours and many other facets of life that make us who we are as a nation.
The Scottish Government are not responsible for the Tory Government’s austerity programme although they do spend £50million a year mitigating the evil bedroom tax.
Look no further than the £1billion-plus used by the Tory Government to secure a deal with the DUP to find evidence of waste that could be better spent putting bread on the table. Dudgale stated Brexit would “threaten a frictionless border” and both pieces talked about the potential effect on peace in Northern Ireland.
Why is there scaremondering when Switzerland, for example, has a much larger frictionless border with the EU? It can be achieved if the will is there.
Peace can also be achieved if the will to do so is there.
If we have Brexit, hard or otherwise, we could create a law that requires another referendum after five years so that “the people” can judge if it was a success. And if not, then rejoin the EU. G Aitken, Ecclefechan, Dumfriesshire
