HEARTBROKEN OVER OUR SPLIT

-

I KNOW you have been through heartbreak and right now I’m experiencing it.

My girlfriend of two years has ended our relationship and I honestly can’t see things looking up.

I’ve accepted that we’re done but she moved on so quickly. She’s now sleeping with a guy who lives 100 yards away from us.

Ours was the first same-sex relationship we’d both been in and I honestly thought I’d marry her. Now I feel lost and completely worthless to her.

I’m in my final year of uni and it’s so hard to keep focused. I should mention that we still live together, although I’m planning on moving out soon.

Things will get better, right? something when you’re still living under the same roof.

Yes, it’s painful when you still love someone and see them moving on so quickly. But you’re so young and you may go through more heartbreak before you find that person you end up marrying. The first heartbreak is the worst because it’s a new experience and it really hurts, but don’t let it ruin your last year of uni.

Take things one day at a time and don’t be tempted to shut yourself off from everyone and everything, because it’s your friends, your studies and your social life that will help get you through. You might have to force yourself to take up invites at first, but gradually it will come easier.

And really get your head down at university – that’s always a positive distraction.
