WE CAN’T BE ANY WORSE

PLAY-OFFS ARBROATH v D’BARTON

-

DICK CAMPBELL is demanding a massive reaction from his Arbroath players after claiming their weekend display was the worst he’d seen in over 20 years as a manager.

The Gayfield side slipped from third to fourth following a 3-0 loss to Queen’s Park.

Boss Campbell said: “I don’t want to take anything away from Queen’s Park but we were poor – the poorest performance I’ve ever seen from my teams.

“We simply have to lick our wounds and up our game massively.

“Whatever happens we cannot be as bad as we were at the weekend.”

Dumbarton manager Stephen Aitken has experienced the pressure of the play-offs while in charge of Stranraer but admits it’s different as manager of the Sons.

Aitken explained: “It feels very different as Dumbarton have their Championship status to lose.

“That’s something we’re proud of and won’t give up easily.” JIM McINALLY has urged Peterhead to shake off the disappointment of their title miss by grabbing promotion via the play-offs.

The Blue Toon were pipped by one point as Montrose took the League Two crown.

And ahead of tonight’s first-leg showdown against Stirling Albion, manager McInally said: “We are going into the game in good condition and all is well.

“It’s back in our hands again and that’s a good feeling knowing we are in control of our own destiny.”

Stirling boss Dave Mackay hopes his players can find the form that shot them to the top of the table earlier in the season.

He said: “Over two legs anything can happen. We are more than capable of beating them if the proper Stirling Albion turn up.”
