Regrets over IT horror

-

INSURANCE giants Direct Line have revealed they took a £50million hit from the Beast from the East and warned almost their entire annual weather claims budget had been used in the first three months of the year. The group, who own insurers Churchill, saw a surge in claims as the freezing temperatures in February and March took their toll on households and businesses. Boss Paul Geddes said: “The freezing weather earlier this year hit many drivers, households and businesses hard.” THE embattled boss of TSB has admitted making a “terrible decision” over their IT fiasco. Paul Pester said pressing ahead with the migration of customer data to their own computer system two weeks ago was the “one decision in my life” he would change.

The switch triggered chaos, with some customers saying they still can’t access their online Oil RSA RBS J Sainsbury SSE Severn Trent Serco Sports Direct Shell Sky Smith & Nephew Smiths WH accounts. Pester told MPs he was giving up a possible £2million bonus that could have come his way had the switch gone to plan.

TSB have received 40,000 complaints – 10 times the normal number – due to the problem.

Pester apologised again yesterday and promised to ensure customers were not left out of pocket by the mess. 649.6 272.5 305.0 1392.0 2008.0 98.5 403.9 2607.5 1373.0 1400.5 1944.0 -7.8 +2.7 -9.5 +9.0 +19.0 +1.3 +4.2 +12.5 -7.0 -3.5 -11.0
