Delight for Jackson as he seals Warriors stay

-

RUARIDH JACKSON’S new lease of life with Glasgow will go on for at least another year.

The big-stage career of the Scotland utility-back was in danger of fading after spells with Wasps and Harlequins.

But the Warriors took him back for a second spell – and he hasn’t looked back.

And after clinching a fresh one-year deal Jackson said: “It is awesome for me. It’s been great to get regular game-time and the exciting way we play means I get plenty of touches – even at full-back.

“New coach Dave Rennie has refreshing thing at training. He makes it pretty tough and we get pushed to our limits.

“But that’s what we need to do to take ourselves onto the next level.”

Rennie said: “Jacko has been outstanding this year.

“After coming in just two weeks before Pro14 started, he’s been a top performer. He’s a good man, really popular. His skillset and versatility make him a great asset.”

Rennie’s sentiments were backed up last night when Jackson was revealed as joint recipient of Glasgow’s Players’ Player of the Year prize along with Sam Johnson.

But the big winner from the evening was rookie scrum-half George Horne, with the 22-year-old lifting the Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards.
