Don’t leave anything out on the pitch begs Liam
FUTURES are on the line, contracts at stake. Careers could be made or broken by what happens next.
But Liam Fontaine says he draws great enjoyment from the high-octane pressures of Ross County’s survival scrap at the foot of the Premiership.
The former Hibs defender takes no pleasure in the club’s predicament but admits he is thriving on the challenge and loving being back in the fray after slipping into the shadows at Easter Road.
County approach tomorrow’s televised showdown with Partick Thistle two points behind the Firhill hosts with only three matches to play.
Defeat would all but confirm their exit from Scotland’s top flight after six seasons.
Fontaine said: “At a club like Ross County every reward we get in the game we have to earn. We have to earn every yard or opportunity we get. Every tackle needs to be won.
“Against Partick Thistle we have to put that workrate in early, set that tempo and maintain it.
“Every one of us on the field on Friday, and the people supporting us, are all going to need to put our A game out there. We are all playing for our careers. Whatever the motivation is we have to rise to it.
“For some people it’s contracts, for some it’s being watched by other teams, for others it is their future at Ross County so you’ve got to do well.
“We’ve got to leave it all out on the pitch on Friday and hopefully it will be enough to get us the win.”
