‘Delusional’ Gary slated over blood claim

-

GARRY O’CONNOR has been labelled “a delusional, alcoholic drug addict” by his former doctor at Lokomotiv Moscow after the former Scotland striker claimed he had his blood reinfused before games in Russia.

O’Connor has caused a huge stir in Russia with his comments about his time there. He said: “You would get your blood taken out, clean it, and before the game you’d get it put it back in.

“When you were playing you felt like you could play two 90 minutes. You felt like a million dollars.”

But Lokomotiv officials denied the 34-year-old’s allegations. Ex-club doctor Alexander Yardoshvili said: “O’Connor is delirious. For a start you cannot do this kind of procedure at a club, it would have to be done in a hospital operating theatre.

“Honestly, I have no idea where Garry got this from. It’s fantasy stuff.

“But let’s remember he has a lot of health problems he needs to sort out. He is an alcoholic and a drug addict and clearly delusional.”

Lokomotiv’s president when O’Connor was in Russia, Valery Fillatov, said: “It’s an insolent lie. Nothing like this has happened.

“He’s not a nice person, to put it mildly. He invents untrue stories.” KENNY McLEAN has been tipped to take the Championship by storm with Norwich next season.

Canaries midfielder James Maddison played with the Scotland midfielder on loan at Aberdeen last season and thinks Daniel Farke’s side have signed a gem.

Maddison said: “When we signed Kenny I told the boss, ‘We’ve signed a good player there’.

“It’s definitely going to be a step up but Kenny is a good enough player and more than capable of doing that step.”
