Beowulf: Return to Shieldlands (Game of Thrones)

-

Love for Jon Snow and GoT is still strong AFTER the colossal global success of HBO’s Game of Thrones, you can’t blame ITV for giving it a go.

In 2016, they launched Beowulf, a £17million TV adaptation of the epic poem.

To say the title music was inspired by GoT is being kind.

Just like Jon Snow in Thrones, ITV proved in this case they “know nothing” as Beowulf sadly only pulled in an average audience of 1.5million viewers.

For such a big-budget drama in the prime Sunday night slot, it was a disappointment – and it was axed after the first series.

By contrast, Game of Thrones is in its eighth series with 16.5million UK viewers watching the series seven finale. DREAM ON Madeley’s show was a flop ON BBC2’s Dragons’ Den, budding entrepreneurs pitch their best ideas to a panel, now made up of Touker Suleyman, Jenny Campbell, Deborah Meaden, Tej Lalvani and Peter Jones.

The business leaders take some convincing to part with their cash.

The show was a hit from the off in 2005 so ITV had a go in 2007, launching Million Pound Giveaway with Richard Madeley as host.

Members of the public had to appeal to the judges, who included Duncan Bannatyne and Jeffrey Archer, for cash to fulfil their dreams. It only lasted one series after viewers said “I’m out”.
