FROM BRAD TO GOOD
Gunners star Magnus eyes glory comeback
MAGNUS BRADBURY is desperate to end his rollercoaster season on a huge high by helping Edinburgh clinch Pro14 glory.
Midway through the campaign the breakaway forward’s career was in crisis when he was sacked as Gunners skipper in the wake of a drunken late-night incident.
But after serving a club ban, Bradbury has bounced back to play a big part in their amazing resurgence. And tomorrow he will line up against Munster in the play-off quarter-finals.
Bradbury can’t wait for the Limerick showdown and to beat the Euro giants at their own game. He said: “They are very physical up front and we intend to match them there.
“They like to impose themselves on the game right from the start. We not only aim to combat that but get our backs in behind them. If we can do that we have every chance.
“I imagine a lot of people will expect Munster to win but we’ve beaten them already this season and we’ve proved we can beat teams.
“We beat Glasgow twice, we’ve beaten Leinster. We’re going out there to win.
“These are pretty exciting times because we’ve never been in the knockout rounds.
“Thomond Park is an intimidating venue. The Munster fans can be as loud as they like but we’re only bothered about what happens on the other side of the touchline.”
On his own mindset Bradbury added: “It has been a bit of a rollercoaster for me. While I’m happy with my form at the moment I know I can always get better.
“After I lost the captaincy coach Richard Cockerill told me, ‘It’s all about how you react’.
“I never expected to walk straight back into the team. I had to earn my position back.
“I just had to get my head down, keep working hard on the training pitch and showing I wanted to be back involved.”
Munster’s CJ Stander has labelled Edinburgh the form team in the competition.
The Ireland back-row star said: “They’ve won eight of their last nine games and are a side who work hard for each other.
“Richard Cockerill coached Leicester Tigers to success in Europe so it hasn’t surprised me at all what he’s done with Edinburgh.”
