Caley Jags pair agree new deals

-

BY ALAN MARSHALL AARON DORAN and Daniel MacKay last night signed new deals as Inverness began building for a renewed promotion push next season.

Former Blackburn winger Doran’s term with the Highlanders will extend to eight-and-ahalf years if he sees out a new two-year contract.

The Irish winger had battled back from two serious knee injuries in the past two years to play a part in the club’s Championship campaign.

Manager John Robertson said: “Aaron, given his great finish to the season, has shown he is now fully recovered from a terrible injury.”

Describing 17-year-old MacKay as “one of the hottest prospects in Scotland”, Robertson tied up a new three-year deal.

MacKay made a firstteam breakthrough this season while still studying for six Highers at school.

Robbo said: “Daniel has broken into the first-team squad with impressive performances which have excited the fans. He is not only the youngest player to play for the club he is the youngest player to score.

“I rate him as a special talent and we’re delighted to secure his signature on a three-year contract.”

Robertson’s budget will again be cut and severely limited for next season and Inverness also announced seven departures to free up cash for fresh signings.

Striker John Baird is released along with Collin Seedorf while five younger players – Steven Foster, Liam MacDonald, Alasdair Stark, Keir Smith and Mitch Foy – have also been let go.
