And be Counted

Jason: Stand up

-

BY ALAN MARSHALL JASON NAISMITH insists it’s time County’s players take full responsibility for survival chances after chewing up two managers this season.

Jim McIntyre and Owen Coyle, along with assistants Billy Dodds and Sandy Stewart, have been left out of work amid the Dingwall club’s grim season-long struggle.

County sit two points adrift of the Maryhill hosts with three games to play. Defeat, fresh from last weekend’s beating at Hamilton, would all but end hopes of securing a seventh consecutive top-flight season.

Victory though would take them above Jags on goal difference – and defender Naismith insists it’s time for team-mates to stand up and be counted.

The former St Mirren full-back said: “There’s an opportunity for us to go above Thistle and we need to make sure we take it.

“It won’t be easy – it never is in Glasgow. They’re good at home but we’re confident in our ability. We know we have a good team and our management team will have us well structured for the game.

“But it’s down to us when we cross the line. It isn’t up to any manager.

“We’ve had four managers this season if we count the two of them now in the job – three different appointments.

“So the players need to take responsibility now – and it is up to us to go and get three points.”

County boss Steven Ferguson joined Jags gaffer Alan Archibald in calling for some sensible refereeing at Firhill.

He said: “Hopefully we will make the right decisions along with the officials.”
