Brit charity worker weds fiancee .. days after she loses arm in croc attack
BRIDE OVERCOMES HORROR INJURY FOR BIG DAY
A BRITISH charity worker spoke last night of his “brave and extraordinary” fiancee – as they married just five days after her arm was ripped off by a crocodile.
Jamie Fox, 27, wed Zanele Ndlovu, 25, in a hospital chapel despite the horrific injuries she sustained in the frenzied attack.
The couple were paddling in the Zambezi river near Victoria Falls when a crocodile jumped on their canoe and grabbed Zanele.
It pulled her into the water and almost severed her arm before she was pulled to safety.
Zanele was taken to hospital by helicopter where doctors were forced to amputate the limb.
Despite losing her arm, Zanele put on her wedding dress, with her stump bandaged at the shoulder, and walked up the aisle to say “I do”.
Jamie said: “I’m so proud of her. She’s amazing.
“She’s been so brave. To be able to get married just five days after this happened is unbelievable. She has been extraordinary.
“Despite her pain and what she had gone through, she was smiling and laughing.
“What a way to start married life!”
He added: “We were due to marry last Saturday. We had booked a venue for the ceremony and reception.
“We had to change the venue for the service and the hospital were able to accommodate us.
“After we were married, my wife and I stayed at the hospital and the rest of the guests went on to the reception without us.
“That’s what we wanted. Our friends and family have been fantastic.”
Jamie, from Bromley, Kent, is an engagement co-ordinator for National Citizen Service, a Government-funded programme for 15 to 17-year-olds, focusing on skills development and social action
He visited Zimbabwe two years ago where he met and fell in love with Zanele, a former international tennis player.
