Police to investigate trawler sinking that claimed lives of two fishermen
BY STEPHEN STEWART s.stewart@dailyrecord.co.uk A CRIMINAL probe has been launched into the Nancy Glen tragedy that left two fishermen dead.
The bodies of Przemek Krawczyk, 38, and skipper Duncan MacDougall, 46, were finally pulled from Loch Fyne last month after their prawn trawler capsized in January.
Their colleague John Miller, 34, was rescued by a passing boat.
Last night, legal chiefs refused to be drawn on the nature of the criminal investigation.
The Crown Office said the procurator fiscal had instructed Police Scotland to investigate the circumstances around the deaths.
A Crown Office spokesman said: “The families will continue to be kept updated in relation to any significant developments.
“As this is a live investigation, it would not be appropriate to comment further.”
A major search was launched by police and the Coastguard after the boat sank in January.
The alarm was raised when John was pulled from the water by the crew of a passing boat.
A specialist lifting barge was used to bring the wreck to the surface last month when the Scottish Government stepped in to help recovery efforts.
Last month, Duncan’s widow Dawn said she feared she would “never know” why his boat sank.
Przemek’s widow Gosia said the weeks before he was found were “the most traumatic” of her life.
She added: “I’ve lost my husband and best friend and my children lost their father.”
