Warriors spirit can see off champs

Seymour targets title shot

-

BY DAVID KELSO TOMMY SEYMOUR admits he’s a huge Scarlets fan – so beating them would be a career highlight.

The Glasgow winger reckons his side will have to produce their best display of the season in Friday’s Pro14 semi-final crunch at Scotstoun.

At stake is a place in the title decider against Euro No.1s Leinster or Munster.

And Scotland speed merchant Seymour said: “Scarlets have a chance to do something special by winning the crown two seasons on the spin.

“That is huge motivation but we’re also desperate to get our hands on that trophy after three long years.

“I’m a big fan of the way the Scarlets play. They are similar to us and like to throw the ball around.

“They have some really good distributors in the forwards as well. So defence is key. We have to shut down and limit their opportunities to get their strike runners on the ball.

“When we get the ball we must be clinical and make sure we handle the pressure of the occasion.”

Warriors’ prospects have been boosted by the news injured Leigh Halfpenny has been ruled out of the Llanelli side’s line-up.

And Seymour is keen to ensure this will be the last appearance of ex-Glasgow mate and national skipper John Barclay before he leaves Wales for Edinburgh.

He added: “We want to win for us. But it is always nice to beat Barcs!”
