THIS IS OUR CHANCE TO BE LEGENDS

Rich: So you don’t like it rough? That’s just tough

RICHARD TAIT insists the Motherwell players are ready to grasp the chance to become legends by taking a trophy back to Fir Park for the first time in 27 years.

And the full-back says they won’t waste an ounce of nervous energy in the Hampden build-up after learning from their painful Betfred Cup Final defeat.

Well are out for revenge for that 2-0 defeat by Celtic in November when the teams collide again in Saturday’s showpiece.

Tait admitted this final is much bigger with Cup fever sweeping through the Lanarkshire town. And the former Grimsby Town man wants to see Well lift the Scottish Cup for the first time since 1991 and only the third time in their history.

Tait said of that Betfred Cup defeat: “The first time you’re there you get caught up in the build-up, maybe we were looking about and not fully focused.

“Maybe we were more nervous and our energy levels went a little bit. But MOTHERWELL are ready to rough Celtic up again as they prepare to battle their way to Scottish Cup glory on Saturday.

Fir Park ace Richard Tait has warned the Hoops they won’t change their style for anyone despite criticism over their approach.

Brendan Rodgers hit out at Steelmen striker Ryan Bowman following a BY GAVIN BERRY that won’t be the case on Saturday. We have to use the League Cup game for that not to happen.

“We’re ready and know what it’s about. It’s a bigger trophy – and so many people are coming up to us in the street.

“We know the possibilities if we win. We will be legends so everyone is embracing that challenge. We know it’s a massive game and a big occasion.

“You have to soak up the atmosphere and use it to help you. When we see all the fans travelling to the game it’s only going to boost us.”

Motherwell have shifted an impressive 13,000 tickets but will be outnumbered by fans of Celtic who are chasing the double Treble.

Tait is ignoring the Hoops’ chance of making Scottish football history and added: “We don’t care about what they can do.

“We’re worrying about winning the trophy for this club and these fans. That’s all that matters to us.” challenge on Rangers defender Fabio Cardoso in the Betfred Cup semi-final.

That came after he took a swipe at Bowman for a challenge on his own player Kieran Tierney.

But Tait said: “We have certainly ruffled a few feathers. We must be doing something right so we will keep doing it. We can get under the skin of teams.”
