HE’S been one of the bestknown names in Scottish hairdressing for more than four decades.
Now Taylor Ferguson is giving aspiring hairdressers, who are just starting out in their careers, the opportunity to follow in his footsteps.
The Taylor Ferguson Glasgow salon, in the city’s Bath Street, is looking to recruit in a couple of areas to help bolster their busy team.
Successful candidates will benefit from learning some of the techniques, skills and expertise that have positioned the legendary stylist at the forefront of his profession.
So, if you want to further your hairdressing skills by working with one of the best teams in the business, this could be the role for you.
Taylor said: “We’re looking for first-year salon assistants to join us.
“This is an ideal opportunity for someone new to the profession to learn alongside the team and discover all aspects of the job.
“No previous experience is necessary but we are keen to hear from people with an interest in hairdressing and with a passion to further their prospects.
“We’re also keen to recruit a couple of second/third-year salon assistants. Candidates would be confident in many aspects of hairdressing, including colouring, blow-drying and hair-ups.
“They may have already studied hairdressing and garnered experience in a salon environment. Again, we would support with additional training and expertise sharing.
“We’re a busy salon and there’s always something different and exciting going on.”
Taylor followed his late mother Patricia’s footsteps into the family hairdressing business in Lanarkshire before opening up his own salon in Glasgow 43 years ago.
His salon has attracted a number of big-name celebrities – including the likes of Billy Connolly, Lulu and Rachel Hunter – as well as a loyal band of regular clients.
Taylor added: “For me, hairdressing is still an extremely exciting and rewarding job and I’ve always believed that if you work hard at it, the more enjoyable and satisfying it becomes.
“Working so closely with clients is a hugely rewarding experience – and it’s always fantastic when someone comes into the salon seeking a new image and we deliver exactly what they desire. The skip in their step as they leave the salon is noticeable as that new image can boost confidence and self-esteem.
“Playing your part in that process is fantastic and makes getting up for work every day so much easier.”
