ANNALISE DEATH COPS SEARCH DIY SHOP

-

POLICE investigating the suspicious death of a young traveller have shifted their probe to Dundee.

Officers locked down a DIY shop in the city as their inquiries into 22-year-old Annalise Johnstone’s death continue.

Vehicles including a crime scene van were parked outside the Toolstation warehouse on Kings Cross Road.

Police refused to answer questions on the operation and no arrests have been made since Annalise’s body was found in Pertshire two weeks ago.

The force will not even confirm whether they yet know the cause of her death or if a post-mortem proved inconclusive. Inquiries are also continuing in the BY JAMES MONCUR j.moncur@dailyrecord.co.uk Inchture area of Perthshire, where a car linked to the case was dumped last week.

The B8062 road between Dunning and Auchterarder, where Annalise’s body was discovered in woodland, remains closed.

A team of officers conducted a fingertip search of a field next to Maggie Wall’s monument near Dunning on Tuesday.

The memorial – erected in memory of a woman burnt as a witch at the site in 1657 – was once visited by Moors Murderers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley during their killing spree in the 60s.

Annalise, from Ardrossan, Ayrshire, disappeared after travelling from her home to Auchterarder to babysit for her brother.

A local in the Perthshire town, who lived close to the Johnstones’ home, criticised the police response.

He said: “What surprises me is how much resources and people they’ve put into this but they haven’t caught anyone yet.

“I heard there were travelling people living in the flat and you’d often see a white transit van there but I’ve not seen that since the police have been watching the place.

“If they are travelling people, they could be anywhere by now.”

A force spokesman refused to comment when asked if an official cause of death had been established.
