Going Dutch with braids is perfect style for summer

-

BY PAMELA DOCHERTY Hairstylist at Asteria Bridal I’VE BEEN seeing a lot of my regular clients this month and also a few new ones.

Ahead of lifting the Scottish Cup, I ensured Brendan Rodgers was looking his lovely best and Scott Sinclair’s trademark blonde hair was freshly coloured and toned.

A quick product tip is Da’ Dude Da’ Wax (www.allstrands.co.uk, £14) which is fantastic for men and holds all day.

I also had the pleasure of styling Dawn Ward and Rachel Lugo from Real Housewives of Cheshire during their two recent Glasgow trips. They were an absolute hoot and Dawn invited me down to Warford Hall – I can’t wait to have a good nosy.

There have been further collaborations with Quiz clothing and I’ve been doing summer hairstyles, such as braids, loose waves and boho buns, for lots of models and influencers.

In keeping with the festival vibe, this month’s tutorial focuses on dutch braids and soft waves.

To achieve this look, I prepped Steffani’s hair with Design.Me Fab Me (Amazon, £9.95). This light spray is amazing for restoring luminosity, it just needs applied to clean damp hair and blow-dried in.

I curled the lengths using a large-barrel tong, let the curls cool and used an oval bristle brush. This created lovely soft waves which I sprayed with Kenra Shine Spray (Amazon, £15).

On my tutorial you will see how the Dutch braids were achieved. Always gently tease them out to achieve a fuller, looser braid, which is a key part of this style and keeps the look current.
