Mystery of woman found dead 80 miles from home
A MAN has been charged in connection with the murder of a young woman found dead 80 miles from home.
The body of Annal ise Johnstone, 22, was discovered in woods in rural Perthshire two weeks ago.
She had travelled from her home in Ardrossan, Ayrshire, the previous day in a silver Ford Galaxy.
The car was abandoned in the village of Inchture and Annalise’s body was found near the B8062 road between Dunning and Auchterarder.
Police closed the road while forensic investigations were carried out.
They also searched the ground around the nearby Maggie Wall’s monument, sealed off a number of houses in Auchterarder and locked down a DIY shop in Dundee. Senior investigating BY JAMES MONCUR officer Detective Superintendent James Smith confirmed yesterday that the case was now being treated as murder and they had arrested a suspect.
He said: “I can confirm that we have charged a 24-year-old man in connection with the alleged murder of Annalise Johnstone, whose body was found in a wooded area at the roadside of B8062 on May 10.
“Our thoughts are very much with Annalise’s family and friends, who are still being supported by specialist officers during this difficult time.
“A number of inquiries are being carried out at locations across Tayside.
“Inquiries have necessitated the closure of the B8062 and I am grateful for the patience of local residents and motorists.”
