Thrones stars Kit and Rose name the day for Scottish wedding

-

BY CHARLIE GALL GAME of Thrones stars Rose Leslie and Kit Harington have named the day they’ll tie the knot in Scotland this summer.

The couple’s wedding banns have been posted for public inspection outside the registration office in Huntly, Aberdeenshire.

They reveal that Christopher Catesby Harington will marry Rose Eleanor Arbuthnot Leslie on Saturday, June 23.

The couple were also lovers on screen as Ygritte and Jon Snow in the fantasy TV saga.

They could get married at Rose’s parents’ 12th century Wardhill Castle, formerly known as Warthill, near Meikle Wartle, Inverurie. She and Kit, both 31, got engaged in September.

At least 200 guests are expected to celebrate with the couple but when the invitations were sent out they were told to keep details secret.

Another possible venue is Lickleyhead Castle, near Insch, which is also owned by Rose’s family and was her childhood home.

The seven-bedroomed turreted 16th century fortress, in 10 acres of woods, has been rented out as a wedding venue and holiday home. Five years ago it was put up for sale for £1.3million but didn’t attract a buyer. At the time, Rose’s mum Candy said: “Lickleyhead was a wonderful place to bring up children, lending itself to games of hide and seek and sardines using all the nooks and crannies in the castle. Rose was born there. “It has seen births, christenings, children’s parties, anniversaries and weddings, has hosted music recitals organised by the director of music at Aberdeen University, and accommodated the Leslie clan gathering for the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Harlaw.” Rose also played housemaid Gwen Dawson in Downton Abbey and stars as Maia Rindell in US legal drama The Good Fight.
