ANDY LIVES THE DREAM

-

From Back Page reckons he’s geared up for tonight’s momentous Champions League Final against Real Madrid in Kiev.

Robertson and the Reds are underdogs going into the showdown as they look to become kings of Europe for the sixth time.

The 24-year-old can also be the first Scot to play in a Champions Leaguewinning team since Paul Lambert landed club football’s biggest prize with Borussia Dortmund 21 years ago.

Robertson admits there will be nerves but is desperate to seize his moment in the match of his life.

He said: “Obviously the lads will be nervous and everyone associated with the club will be.

“But there is a real good feeling among the boys and the entire club.

“It’s only natural for a club which has got to a Champions League Final.

“Everyone wants to be successful but it’s also important to enjoy it.

“Real Madrid are a world-class team, there is no denying that.

“Every player in their team is world class and they have shown that on a European basis by dominating the Champions League in recent years.

“This is probably the biggest game of our lives and we have to be fully focused.”

While Real are packed full of seasoned and serial winners, none of Jurgen Klopp’s team have played in the showpiece.

But Robertson has no fear on that front and says the lack of experience may work in Liverpool’s favour.

He said: “These things don’t come around often and you need to try to enjoy them.

“But in terms of the actual game and the build-up, I’ve tried to take my mind off it.

“When it comes to it I’ll be fully focused.

“It’s a great occasion for all of us because none of us have experienced it. Obviously the manager has but none of us players have.

“In that sense you could say we are inexperienced but that could work to our advantage because we don’t know what to expect.

“That means we can be open-minded and hopefully that will work for us.”
