Aberdeen memorial for Tattie

BY KEITH McLEOD A CELEBRATIO­N of Aberdeen legend Neale Cooper’s life is be held at Pittodrie Stadium.

The event was confirmed as his family released a statement yesterday.

Neale, 54, died surrounded by his loved ones in hospital last Monday after suffering head injuries in a fall.

A post on Aberdeen’s website said his family had asked the club to share a statement in memory of their “beloved Neale”.

It said Neale was “a loving son to Anne, father to Amy, Alex, and Ellie, brother to Shirley, and uncle to Doug and Suzi” and he “left a lasting impression on everyone he encountere­d and will be sorely missed by those he left behind.”

The family thanked the emergency services and medics who cared for Neale – nicknamed Tattie – and confirmed there will be a private funeral.

The statement added: “The family would like to thank Aberdeen FC for organising the public memorial event and for the support they have shown.

“The family are also very touched and grateful for the overwhelmi­ng support and thoughts of the public and fans.”

The celebratio­n of Neale’s life will take place on Friday at 7pm in the Richard Donald Stand at Pittodrie.

The family urged all Neale’s friends, colleagues and supporters to attend and pay their respects. The club are also setting up a book of condolence.
