TORRES CAN STRIKE

-

LUIS VAZ DE TORRES (7.30) can maintain Richard Fahey’s winning run on June Racenight at Ayr.

The Tagula gelding had been out of form but bounced back to his best with a battling defeat of Mango Chutney at Wetherby last month.

That win came on soft ground but the six-year-old is actually better on a faster surface and remains nicely treated thanks to Connor Murtagh’s 5lb claim.

EVIES WISH (6.30) can kick BY GARRY OWEN off a profitable evening for in-form handler John McConnell.

Useful last year, the filly made an eye-catching comeback when fifth at Gowran and should be primed for a big effort.

The Meath handler can double up courtesy of HEY PRETTY (9.0) in the lucky last. After landing a competitive Fairyhouse handicap last week the three-year-old remains largely unexposed.

STAR CRACKER (7.0) can sparkle for thriving Jim Goldie in a trappy sprint handicap.

The six-year-old was just collared by the in-form Naples Bay over course and distance last time and can go one better off a workable mark.

David O’Meara’s MUSCIKA (8.0) can repeat last year’s success in the Racing UK Handicap. The four-year-old ran a stormer chasing home the progressive Maid In India at Haydock and will take all the beating with a repeat.

Irish raider MANOMINE (8.30) can just shade a tight staying event for trainer R K Watson. The nine-year-old shaped well for a long way in a hot 1m 5f Leopardstown handicap and can regain the winning thread up in trip.

Some decent bets at Windsor where SILENT ECHO (7.15) can stay on track in the feature sprint. Peter Hedger’s gelding scored with plenty in hand over course and distance and can shrug off top weight with further improvement likely.

Brian Meehan’s CARLINI (8:45) rates a value bet in the closing mile handicap. The threeyear-old was a good third from a difficult position here last time and can go very close tonight for his shrewd connections.

Masar is thriving after giving Godolphin their first Epsom Derby victory on Saturday. Trainer Charlie Appleby is keen to keep the colt over 1m 4f with a tilt at next month’s Irish equivalent at the Curragh on the agenda.
