One winner, one turkey & it’s a wrap

-

WHEN Sex And The City wrapped in 2004, the brand was scorching hot.

But plans for a follow-up film stalled when Kim Cattrall asked for more money. She was getting divorced, her father was diagnosed with dementia and she wanted a break, as well as extra cash.

It took four years and some delicate negotiations to make the first film. It was loved by fans and accepted grudgingly by most critics.

Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker spent the next four years denying that they had fallen out. Somehow, in 2010, they made a second movie which saw the four besties jet off to Abu Dhabi for a luxury desert break.

There were some banging outfits and a cameo from a hot, shorthaired Aidan. But even diehard fans thought it was a squawking turkey.

The third film was announced in 2016, then pulled the next year. Parker and Cattrall killed the project with interview backchat and social media sniping.

Cattrall told one journalist: “This isn’t about more money, this is not about more scenes, it’s not about any of those things. This is about a clear decision, an empowered decision in my life to end one chapter and start another. I’m 61. It’s now.”

Since SATC ended, Parker has starred in films Failure to Launch and Did You Hear About BY ANNA BURNSIDE The Morgans? She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her ongoing TV series Divorce.

Cattrall has had major roles on stage in the UK and the US. She also starred in HBO Canada series Sensitive Skin.

Kristin Davis used SATC to launch a stage career, with roles on Broadway and London’s west end. Film credits

include The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lava Girl and Deck The Halls. She had a fashion line with department store Belk, is a global ambassador for Oxfam and campaigns for African elephants.

Cynthia Nixon has appeared in films, TV and on Broadway, playing roles as diverse as Nancy Reagan and Eleanor Roosevelt.

She also found time to record an award-winning audiobook. In March, she announced plans to stand as governor of New York. She’s a gay rights activist and announced her engagement in 2009.
