Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer, £28, clinique.co.uk A lightweight product that delivers a natural look. Moondust eyeshadow in Intergalactic, £16, urbandecay. co.uk Micro-fibre particles create a sophisticated sparkle. With Fiora McFarlane Model Kendall Jenner was a vision at the CFDA Fashion Awards. She let her feathered dress do the talking and kept her make-up natural with smoky purple eyes and berry lips. FOR the Joan Collinses of this world, travel involves filling a Louis Vuitton trunk with every beauty product known to Harvey Nichols and letting someone else carry it.

The rest of us have to shove every last lipgloss into a plastic bag and hope nothing spills on the way through customs.

It is a horrible irony that holidays – the one part of the year when we have time to play with facepacks and want to look our fabulous glowing best – come with luggage restrictions.

If you are chucking everything into the back of the car and heading for a cottage, then fill your boots. Take all the products for a DIY facial. Give everyone a manipedi. It’s a great way to spend an evening in a country cottage.

But if you are flying, even with checked-in luggage, you will need to be more selective.

Which is where holiday minis come in. Who can resist a dinky little set of tiny bottles or a shrunken version of a family favourite? Or the luxurious prospect of a hotel bedroom spa with top-notch beauty treats, even if you are staying in a bargain basement apartment block with four to a room.

Sanctuary have a BY ANNA BURNSIDE particularly good range of small packages. The shower gel will make the grimmest shared bathroom feel a bit more five star, while the spray-on body oil leaves skin with a delicious after-hours gleam. Their face masks all come in single packages to slip into a toilet bag.

The Body Shop are also a good bet. Their 50ml body butters will see you through a fortnight of sun worshipping.

Sunblock is a tricky one – take a small bottle and you might be tempted not to put on enough. But it’s a good idea to factor in on-the-go top-ups with something like Superdrug’s Solait brand, which comes in 50ml pouches and 100ml tubes, in SPF15, SPF30 and SPF50.

But award for best mini since Mary Quant goes to La Roche-Posay, for its 30ml pocket pack of high-powered sunblock. Its TicTac box style packaging will fit in the tiniest of bags or pockets.

Jo Malone’s smallest perfume size is 30ml, perfect for hand luggage.

And don’t forget a mineral water spray to keep your skin hydrated and peachy during a long flight or sticky bus journey.

Then there’s your crowning glory. Luxe brand Evo have an impressive range of 30ml tubes, including a moisture mask that will sort out sunfrazzled, salt-sticky locks in a few creamy minutes.
