Kimchi, cocktails and Cabell

-

THE shoes, the cocktails, the cakes – what would they wear, drink and eat on SATC 2018?

Miranda would be a flat shoe and sneaker nerd, rocking Gucci’s epic gold flatforms or Oliver Cabell’s minimalist leather trainers.

Najeeba Hayat’s extravagant shoe brand Liudmila would be Carrie’s footwear of choice. She would adore her borderline kinky lace-up numbers and dainty Manoloesque gingham heels.

There would be a whole episode based on some embarrassing or incriminating item being visible through Carrie’s new see-through Prada bag.

The ladies would drink cold-brew coffee in summer. One of them would undoubtedly hook up with a barista until she got bored of him banging on about his steam arm all the time. At night, they might swig a retro dirty martini, a negroni or an Aperol spritz.

Brunch might be almond pancakes – at least one of the main characters must be gluten-free – or bagels with a tower of spreads. Unlike the dreary canteens they frequented in the late 90s, the friends would meet in cool, airy venues such as abcV in Gramercy Park.

There would be a psychedelic explosion cake from Flourshop in the East Village at the first party of the series.

The characters might still live in Manhattan but they would cross the Hudson to Brooklyn for roof parties and sprouted black-eyed pea fritters at Annicka or seafood bouillabaisse with kimchi at Brasserie Seoul.

Carrie’s clunky Apple laptop would be replaced with an iPhone X – gifted to her by the company – on which she would take her outfit-of-the-day pictures, edit her Instagram posts and dictate her “I couldn’t help but wonder” masterworks as voice memos.
