Heart of a Lion seals Ricki deal

-

LIVINGSTON interim boss David Martindale revealed sweet-talking Ricki Lamie into a switch was made much simpler because he’s a supporter.

The former Morton defender became the Premiership new boys’ fourth signing of the summer – despite being without a full-time gaffer.

Lamie, at Cappielow for four years, follows Craig Sibbald, Liam Kelly and Steven Saunders.

Martindale, in charge after David Hopkin left 11 days ago, said: “Despite hailing from Harthill he somehow managed to end up supporting the Lions. But it has helped secure his signature so it’s ideal for us.

“He’s is big, strong and powerful and can play left centre-half or leftback. He has a great left foot and will bring balance to the back four, being able to play in a three or a four comfortably.”

● Roy MacGregor will only sanction the sale of Jason Naismith if he declares he wants out of Ross County. Relegated BY JOHN GARDNER Staggies have had firm offers for the defender from Sunderland and fellow League One clubs Burton and Peterborough.

County chairman MacGregor, who is likely to hold face-to-face talks with the 23-year-old today, wants him to stay.

But he said: “We want hungry players who want to be at the club at this moment in time.

“I need to check that out with Jason and understand exactly where he is in his thoughts.

“Our management team have made it clear they want him but does he want the club?”

● Dumbarton boss Stevie Aitken plans to sound out Motherwell about bringing George Newell in on loan. The Sons are set for life in League One and Aitken said: “He needs games and we need a striker who can lead our attack.”

● Clyde signed Mark Lamont on a one-year deal after the midfielder, 20, was on loan from Partick Thistle last term.
