GO FORTH AND MULTIPLY

-

A TRAIN driver shocked his wife by buying a huge print of the Forth Bridge – despite having the same view out of their window.

Stuart Slicer, 58, snapped up the picture at a sportsman’s dinner and planned to hang it in his living room.

But wife Helen, 56, wasn’t impressed by the impulse purchase, which had to be brought into their home in South Queensferry, near BY ALAN McEWEN Edinburgh, through the conservatory.

A video shot by their son, Stuart jnr, 35 – which shows the print then pans to the real-life view out their back window – went viral on Twitter, racking up more than 170,000 views.

Stuart snr is now offering the 10ftx4ft artwork for sale, with the cash going to a good cause. The dad of three and grandad of four said: “The bridge is something spectacular. I love it but Helen said, ‘That’s not going on our wall’. She thinks it’s too big. Also, it doesn’t go with the wallpaper.”

He admitted he’d had “some sherbets” before buying the print at the charity auction for a “three-figure sum”.
