MARTIN CANNING has hailed the loan signing of rising star Mason Bloomfield after he joined from Norwich.

The highly-rated striker won a move to the English Championsh­ip side from Dagenham & Redbridge in March after a string of impressive displays last season.

Accies boss Canning believes towering Bloomfield, 21, is “great addition” as he bolsters his attack for next term.

He added: “He’s 6 foot 3, he’s mobile and he has a real desire to score.’’

● Former Rangers defender Ross Perry is closing in on securing a deal with Dumbarton.

The 28-year-old has impressed Sons boss Stephen Aitken during their first week of pre-season training.

Aitken confirmed he’ll “kick talks off soon” with Perry who spent last season at Albion Rovers.

● Ayr are in pole position to sign ex-Gers midfielder Andy Murdoch after he turned down an offer from Brechin.

● Ross County have missed out on signing Queen of the South left-back Jordan Marshall with the 21-year-old now expected to re-sign with the Doonhamers.

● Clyde boss Danny Lennon has thanked supporters for helping finance the signing of striker Jack Boyle.

The ex-Huddersfie­ld kid netted four goals in 16 games while on loan with the Bully Wee for the second half of last term.

And he becomes the first capture using funds from the club’s Flying Start initiative after his release by Premier League Terriers.

Lennon said: “I’d like to give a huge shout of thanks to the fans for dipping into their pockets during the close season to help generate the necessary funds.”
