FESTIVAL TRIBUTE TO TRAGIC SINGER

Frightened Rabbit album will play live in memory of Scott

- BY RICK FULTON

BELLADRUM will pay tribute to Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison by playing one of their albums in full rather than replace them on the line-up.

The group were due to headline the Hot House stage at the August festival in Beauly, playing their second album The Midnight Organ Fight in full.

But in May, the band’s singer and songwriter Scott Hutchison disappeared and was later found dead. He was 36.

Festival organisers wanted to find a way to thank Scott for his songs.

Promotor Joe Gibbs said: “Following suggestions from fans and our own deliberations, we felt that a tribute to Scott and the band would be more appropriate than any other course of action.

“Playing the album live will be a chance for everyone to come together and remember Scott and the band’s outstanding contribution to Scottish music.”

As well as playing the album in full with a video tribute to Scott, there will also be a collection for Scottish Association for Mental Health the charity chosen by the band.

A donation will also be made by Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and they will be working alongside the Frightened Rabbit team to partner with their chosen charity to become the official Belladrum 2019 charity.

In 2014, Scott revealed how much the festival meant to the band. He said: “We started in a small tent and we have gone up and up every time.”
