MAIN STAGE

QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT

-

with worldwide tours, their own musical, We Will Rock You, and a new film, Bohemian Rhapsody, starring Rami Malek as Freddie, out in October.

Much of the reason they are still a viable live act is down to Adam. While the late George Michael and Paul Rodgers stepped into Freddie’s shoes, Adam’s sparkle has brought Queen’s anthems back to how we remember them, drenched in theatrics and a voice that has a range most singers can only dream of.

Brian and Roger first collaborated with Adam on American Idol in 2011, singing We Are The Champions. They then asked him to join them at the MTV Europe Awards in Belfast later in the year, and on June 30, 2012, Queen + Adam Lambert played their first full concert. Six years later, they are a worldwide touring band.

Brian said: “We are very fortunate to have Adam. He’s an extraordinary singer, extraordinary performer.”

Tonight at Glasgow Green, Queen will perform on a 69ft (21m) by 112ft (34m) stage – black gloss with a red chrome edge – based on the shape of the guitar Brian and his dad custom-made in the 60s.

It features a long catwalk which enables the band to be surrounded by the audience.

Of Queen’s enduring appeal, Brian said: “I think we were a people’s band – even though there was all this pomp and circumstance to us. Basically, we were speaking for the normal person.”
