Hollow protests

WELL, he’s gone. So to the 0.004 per cent of the UK population who came out to protest against Trump, you stood up and were “counted”.

The other 99.99 per cent of your compatriots seemed to be a bit apathetic about the whole thing.

You no more speak for Britain than the protesters who sat outside Faslane for years wasting the taxpayers’ money needed to police them.

I didn’t see anyone standing in front of a tank or putting a flower down the barrel of a soldier’s gun – but if it made you happy, good.

Trump is boorish, coarse and volatile, and will not give a monkey’s about the risk-free “look at me, I’m protesting” nonsense.

Maybe Myanmar or North Korea or Venezuela might be better targets for protests? Andy Lanigan, Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow

Demo bandwagon

I’M a worker, in a union and have always had faith in people working together to build a better society.

But the demonstrators protesting against President Trump turned my stomach.

The leader of the free world has been branded a fascist by these so-called socialists and it has now become fashionable to be anti-Trump.

So, good on all who made placards, trimmed their beards and dyed their hair – you’ve done your bit to save us all. J.M., Hamilton
