Storer is up Fir fight after firing Jags to the top
JACK STORER fired Partick Thistle to a second win in Group E by seeing off Championship rivals Morton 2-1.
Storer gave the Jags a 17th-minute lead at Firhill with a thumping effort from 25 yards.
James Penrice hit the second 12 minutes later with Alan Archibald’s side seeing things out after Ton debutant Reghan Tumilty pulled a one back in the second half.
In the other Group E game Stenhousemuir defeated Albion Rovers 4-0 thanks to goals from new boys Morgyn Neill, Connor Duthie, Sebastian Ross and Sean Dickson.
Montrose top Group B after Danny Cavanagh hit a 56th-minute winner to beat East Fife 1-0.
Falkirk are second after beating Forfar 2-0. Visiting Loon Jamie Bain had an early penalty saved but second-half goals from Dennon Lewis and Deimantas Petravicius sealed it for the Bairns.
Inverness survived a scare to fire back 5-2 at Cowdenbeath and top Group C.
Jordyn Sheerin put the home side ahead before Tom Walsh levelled then put the Highlanders ahead in the 41st minutes with Aaron Doran poking in the third before half-time.
George Oakley made it 4-1 in the 73rd minute before Doran grabbed his second as Sheerin did ROUND-UP for the hosts. Debutant Myles Hippolyte nodded Dunfermline into a firsthalf lead against Peterhead at East End Park with Kallum Higginbotham adding a second from the penalty spot two minutes from time and Andy Ryan making it a last-gasp 3-0.
Bruno Melingui fired Brechin ahead at Stirling Albion. Mark Stewart levelled on half-time but Callum Tapping struck made it 2-1 with six minutes left to give Brechin a Group D lead.
In Group G Stephen Dobbie grabbed a hat-trick for Queen of South as they made it two wins from two by seeing off Clyde 3-0.
Alloa’s first Group A game ended in a 4-2 win over visitors Arbroath – with all six goals scored in the first 36 minutes
Greig Spence and Kevin Cawley put the Wasps 2-0 up before Ryan Wallace and Kane Hester squared it. But a goal from Alan Trouten and a second from Spence sealed it for Alloa.
Calum Gallagher hit the 35th-minute winner as Dumbarton beat Queen’s Park 1-0 to top Group H.
And Annan lead Group F after a 4-0 home win over Berwick after a first-half double from Tommy Muir before strikes from David Wilson and Scott Roberts.
