Naked ambition

-

JIM Lockwood, who posed in the nude at the top of Goat Fell, aims to repeat the feat on other Scots peaks.

His cheeky photo in the middle of a hot summer gave everyone a laugh. But will Jim be so bold on a Munro summit in winter? Now that really would be brave.

A COUNCIL official has vowed to get naked at every Scottish summit he reaches – after a hilarious photograph of him in only his trainers went viral. Jim Lockwood’s day job involves working as a roads engineer for South Lanarkshire Council. So the 34-year-old, who lives in Strathaven, Lanarkshire, caused a sensation after sharing a 5am snap of himself naked at the top of 2867ft Goat Fell, on Arran. Jim said: “I’ve always been an early hiker. “Myself and my brotherin-law decided we’d climb Goat Fell at 4.30am. “As we reached the top, it was very cloudy so there was no view. “Suddenly, I thought, ‘What would make a good view and what could make a boring picture a little more interesting?’ so I decided to whip my gear off.” Jim, originally from Manchester, has vowed to continue the trend and urged others to show their “bummit at the summit”. His picture has inspired several people to share photos of themselves posing naked in nature.

Graham Gigar Bentham posed on Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales at 3560ft.

Alongside a picture of himself naked and with his arms held out, Graham wrote: “Must be something about the mountain air.”

Danny McNeill braved freezing temperatures and snow to strip down at the top of Ben Arthur, posing with his back to the camera.

And Alan Thomas shared a photograph of himself on the way back down from conquering the 3772ft Bidean nam Bian in Glencoe.
