NOVICHOK VICTIM OUT OF HOSPITAL

-

BY CHRIS HUGHES NOVICHOK poisoning victim Charlie Rowley has been discharged from hospital, it emerged last night.

The 45 year-old fought for his life for weeks after collapsing at home.

Tragically, his girlfriend Dawn Sturgess, 44, died after coming into contact with the substance, believed to be Russian-made.

The pair are thought to have stumbled upon a bottle used in the attempted assassination of Sergei and Yulia Skripal.

Charlie’s brother Matthew said he was taken by surprise by the news. He said: “I don’t think he is 100%. I found out about it an hour ago from a reporter.

“I was surprised they [the hospital] didn’t tell me. I don’t know how it works SURVIVED Charlie after he’s released, I’m going to wait for the police to tell me. It’s been awful.”

It came as it was revealed security chiefs fear Russian spooks are planning a massive cyber attack against the UK.

Sources said a key target for Putin’s web saboteurs is our energy supplies.

Another target for Russia’s hacking experts in ruthless military intelligence unit, the GRU, is the Bank of England. A TRAGEDY Dawn security source revealed: “Everyone is pointing the finger at Moscow for the Novichok incident, but Putin will believe there is almost nothing the UK can do about it except name the spies behind it.

“That will not matter to them or Putin. But they will want to step up the pressure on the UK, cost us a great deal of money and cause as much disruption as possible. Energy and finance are the biggest targets as it could hit us hard.

“If there is a huge [cyber] attack, an offensive reaction would be extremely likely and could escalate tensions between East and West even further.”

He added the Novichok nerve agent attack could be “just the beginning”.

Yesterday, Dawn’s friends and relatives met at The Bridge Tap pub in Salisbury, Wilts, to share memories of her.

One close friend said: “Dawn was such a lovely person and was loved by lots of people, who are obviously upset that she’s been taken away.

“She was just a really nice person who wouldn’t hurt a fly.

“She really looked out for people and helped anyone she could.”

Dawn died on July 8, a week after contact with the nerve agent.
