ANALYSIS: WHO LIES IN WAIT FOR RANGERS

-

UMAR SADIQ could be flung in for his Rangers debut in Thursday’s Europa League clash with Osijek after international clearance was obtained for the striker.

The giant Nigerian has been added to the squad for the second qualifying round tie along with fellow new boy Lassana Coulibaly.

One name who doesn’t appear on the updated list is Ryan Kent who sealed his loan switch from Liverpool yesterday while Lee Hodson has dropped out altogether. MARIBOR or Georgian outfit Chikhura Sachkhere will be next up for Rangers if they make the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

And while Steven Gerrard isn’t getting ahead of himself and will be fully aware of the dangers Osijek pose first, fans will be keen to find out what lies in wait next.

Here, Record Sport takes a look at the potential Euro rivals.

The Georgians have caused decent teams problems over the past five years and beat Bursaspor in Europa League qualifying in 2014. They finished fifth in their homeland but have a proven ability to eke out results.

The Slovenians were blown away by Gers in Champions League qualifying in 2001 but have enjoyed a hex over Scots since. There was a 6-2 thumping of Hibs in 2010, a 3-2 win over Rangers in 2011, victory against Celtic in 2014 and a 2016 success over Aberdeen.

Domestic dominance has slipped but they made last season’s Champions League, drawing with Sparta and Sevilla.
