Enders Dr Legg is back

Dr Legg, 92, is back for tearful Walford meeting with Dot, 91

- BY NICOLA METHVEN

HE’S 92, she’s 91, so friends don’t come much older than Dr Legg and Dot Cotton on EastEnders. And the cast members could not hide their delight at their Albert Square reunion yesterday.

Actor Leonard Fenton appeared as Dr Harold Legg in the first episode of the BBC soap in 1985.

He will return to the role this autumn to help out Dot, played for 33 years by June Brown.

The stars looked thrilled on set as they filmed the first scenes of a story set to run up to Christmas.

Leonard said: “I am very happy to be back at EastEnders and am looking forward to working with June and the rest of the cast and crew again.”

June responded: “It’s been 11 years since Dot last visited her favourite doctor, Dr Legg, and it’s an utter delight to work with Leonard again.”

Dr Legg was Walford’s resident GP until his “retirement” in 1999, with only short, occasional returns since.

He and Dot had a difficult relationship due to her hypochondria.

In the new storyline, the pair have kept in touch over the years, with Dot letting him know the ins and outs of life on the Square.

EastEnders boss John Yorke said it would be “exciting and emotional”.
