JOHN MUST PREPARE FOR STAYING

-

NEIL LENNON has told in-demand Hibs star John McGinn to prepare for going nowhere.

The Easter Road boss insists speculation and increased bids from Celtic aren’t a guarantee the 23-year-old is exiting the club this summer.

Lennon paid tribute to the midfielder’s professionalism by BY GORDON PARKS blanking out the ongoing transfer saga ahead of tonight’s Europa League clash with Asteras Tripolis.

Lennon said: “We have our valuation of John. He is our top player and no club yet has met that valuation that satisfies the club.

“John is quite satisfied with that at the minute. I’ve had chats with him to see how he is because there will be people talking to him, his agent and his family all giving him titbits of advice.

“Ideally it’s good for him to come in, train and play. Listen, the deal might never happen. He has to get his head round that so we try to prepare him for all eventualities the best we can.

“He is training well, he’ll play and until that situation changes he is a Hibs player.

“At the end of the day John is a human being. He has feelings and emotions and it almost feels as if he is a bit exposed.

“We’re trying to manage him the best we can.”
