A 33-year-old Italian woman injured in the crash was still in a critical condition in hospital yesterday. The 45-year-old male minibus driver, a male passenger, 70, and Nissan driver Morag Smith, 39, remain in hospital with serious injuries.
Superintendent Louise Blakelock said: “This has been a difficult time for everyone affected by this tragedy.
“We have learned of countless individuals going above and beyond to provide assistance and comfort – from acts of bravery and compassion at the scene to invaluable support in the aftermath.”
As the investigation into the crash continues, officers are keen to hear from drivers on the A96 last Thursday night.
Blakelock added: “I appeal to motorists with dash-cam footage – whether you think you have captured the vehicles or not – to get in touch.”
A 53-year-old man died when his car left the A947 and hit a tree. The smash happened near Banff at 8.30pm on Sunday.
