ONE is a much-loved actor from Dundee who made his name in Hollywood blockbusters.

The other is a megalomaniac media tycoon who can’t bear to hand control of his empire to his children.

But Brian Cox admits he shares some parental stresses with Logan Roy, his character in TV drama Succession.

Dad-of-four Cox, 71, said: “I love the family dynamic of this series. We love our children but how do we know how good or useless they are?

“Logan’s children are victims of their own situation. We live in a world where entitlement comes very easy and the digital age, with Facebook and Twitter, has given people a sense of entitlement in a way they never had before.

“That applies especially to children of successful people who have been brought up in that way – and Logan recognises that.”

Roy has been compared with Sky owner Rupert Murdoch, whose children have followed him into the business.

But Cox said: “He is a self-made man, he is not like Murdoch because he already came from wealth and a dynasty, but it all starts with Logan and the mystery of who he is and what he did to become the guy that he became.”

X-Men 2 and Bourne Identity star Cox has won rave reviews for his turn as the manipulative billionaire.

As the title suggests, the main thrust of the action is about four children’s battle to take over the reins from him.

Like Cox, the fictional Roy was born in Dundee and has four kids but the actor hasn’t asked his own children to compare them.

He said: “That is the elephant in the room. They love the show and it’s great when your family appreciate what you’re doing finally.

“I’ve got my son and my daughter in their 40s who are just wild about it, and two younger sons in their teens who love it because it’s so naughty.”
