DAY 1 GUIDE
WHILE no golds will be won today, there will be plenty of stars on show as the track cycling, gymnastics and rowing get underway.
Katie Archibald is set to start her Europeans at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in women’s team pursuit qualifying while plenty of Scots take to the water at Strathclyde Park.
Here Record Sport maps out who to look out for on day one.
TRACK CYCLING
Archibald, above, is expected to kick off a busy championships at 7pm tonight with England’s four-time Olympic champion Laura Kenny joining her in the women’s team pursuit.
Then at 7.35pm it will be the men’s turn after winning gold at the World Championships – Britain’s first men’s team pursuit world title since 2012 – at the start of the year.
GYMNASTICS
At The Hyrdo, the GB women’s team of Alice Kinsella, Lucy Stanhope, Kelly Simm, Taeja James and Georgia-Mae Fenton will be in action.
Four hour-long sessions will give crowds a taste of what’s to come with double Olympic champion Max Whitlock.
ROWING
Twenty kilometres from Glasgow city centre, Strathclyde Park will host a packed day of heats.
Edinburgh’s Harry Leask will contest the men’s double sculls just after 11am while Alan Sinclair, above, takes to the water in the men’s eight just after 1pm.
In the women’s events, Glasgow Rowan McKellar will go in the pairs to be followed by Melissa Wilson in the women’s quadruple sculls.
