Booth has high Hoops for his rival boss Eddie

- BY ANDREW SOUTHWICK

SCOTT BOOTH believes Celtic’s appointment of Eddie Wolecki Black can help attract more fans to women’s football.

The former Glasgow City manager, who won four trebles with the club, will be tasked with breaking his old side’s dominance when he makes the move from Motherwell to the Hoops at the end of the month.

City boss Booth is relishing the prospect of Celtic boosting SWPL 1 by becoming a bigger threat under Wolecki Black – but not before he puts them to the sword in tomorrow’s showdown.

Booth said: “In my three years here I’ve heard talk about Celtic, Rangers and Hibs becoming stronger and better.

“And that’s a good thing because we want a strong league in Scotland.

“We want people to want to come and watch the games – and they’ll only do that if the matches are competitive and exciting.

“So from that perspective it’s good we have that level of competition.

“But I have to focus on Glasgow City and what we do to maintain what we’ve already achieved.

“That’s my job and hopefully on Sunday we can take the three points against Celtic because that’s really vital for us.”

Wolecki Black will not be at the showdown at Petershill Park tomorrow as he bids to confirm promotion for Motherwell from the SWPL 2 first.

Three points is vital for title-chasing City over Celtic having lost top spot to Hibs who won their game in hand to lead on goals scored.

Hibs host Stirling Uni, Rangers travel to Forfar, while lowly Hamilton and Spartans fight it out at the HopeCBD Stadium.
