Music teacher ‘groped girl in cupboard’

BY ASHLIE McANALLY A MUSIC teacher sexually assaulted a schoolgirl in a cupboard, a court heard yesterday.

The 54-year-old said she had been molested by teacher William Wright when she was 13 or 14 and a pupil at a school in East Renfrewshire.

She fought back tears as she told the High Court in Glasgow: “I was terrified of him, he had a temper.”

Jurors heard she cried after he left the cupboard and told her not to come out for a couple of minutes.

The woman added: “I was leaving. He caught up and said he would give me a lift home because I had missed the school bus.”

Wright, 78, of Elderslie, Renfrewshire, denies three charges of indecent assault and three of lewd practices between 1974 and 1987. The trial continues.
