Rape crisis charity’s anger as funding cut

BY COLETTE CRAMPSEY AND ANNIE BROWN A CASH-STRAPPED support group for female survivors of rape claim a major charity withdrew vital funding due to a “lack of support for male survivors” in the service.

Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis have been forced to close a waiting list for face-to-face support as the cuts have had a “significan­t impact”.

The non-profit organisati­on provide support for girls aged 13 and over who have been raped, sexually assaulted or sexually abused.

They say funding was withdrawn by Children In Need because of an apparent lack of provision for men and boys affected by sexual abuse. The BBC charity denied their decision was “genderbase­d”, saying they “simply don’t have the money”.
